Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Garki branch, Mr. Anthony Bamidele Ojo, has said the association is committed to ending insecurity in the country.
Ojo, during the 2025 Law Week of the Garki branch of the association with the theme, “Law, Technology and the Society”, said members will benefit, learn and network during the programme.
He said the association is committed to ensuring peace in the country.
He said, “The NBA has done a whole lot and is still doing so much to contribute to the development of the country. The national body of the association under the leadership of Mazi Afam Osigwe, is presently organizing a security summit in Benue State, to find way of tackling the acute insecurity problems in the country, particularly, in the North.
“They are presently meeting in Makurdi and after that, they will move to other parts of the country to find ways of tackling security issues.”
He said during this year’s law week, the association will not be focussing only on the issues that has to do with the law profession but also on how to move the country forward as social engineers and how to defend their clients well and ensure that those who are not guilty are not sent to prison.
“Also, we will ensure that we provide justice for members of the society, not just our clients.
“Everyone who is going to be part of this will benefit, network and learn. The issues to be discussed have been divided into sub-topics. We have tried our best to get sound and erudite panelist from across the divide of the practice of the profession.
“Courtroom practice, solicitors, business lawyers, law enforcement agencies, growing trend of counter terrorism financing and anti-money laundering issues will be discussed”.
