For violating consumer protection regulations, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has imposed sanctions on Kenya Airways.
According to the director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, the airline was found guilty of failing to provide adequate care, disclose terms of carriage, process refunds and compensation for three passengers, including one Gloria Omisore.
As a result, Kenya Airways has been fined in accordance with the NCAA Regulations 2023 and given a seven-day ultimatum to pay refunds and compensation totaling $1,000 special drawing rights to the affected passengers.
The NCAA’s action reaffirms its commitment to protecting the rights of air travelers and promoting a fair and transparent aviation industry.
The authority warned that failure to comply with the sanctions will attract stiffer penalties for the airline.
This move aims to ensure that airlines operating in Nigeria adhere to consumer protection regulations and provide satisfactory services to their customers.
