National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy (FMACCE), has partnered with Pure Imagination & Filmworks Limited, the official creators of Nigeria’s Got Talent (NGT) to host Season 3 of the reality TV show.
The partnership forms part of the government’s efforts to discover and develop creative talents across the country.
Organisers of the competition said this third edition will blend entertainment and cultural promotion, in collaboration with the ministry to attract over 15,000 participants sourced from the latter’s Creative Leap Accelerator Programme (CLAP) to empower Nigerian creatives, foster innovation and economic growth. CLAP is implemented via the NCAC, which aligns with the council’s ICE digital platform “with blended learning through partner hubs and Origins (NCAC data and business insights platform) which will serve as digital depository for Nigeria’s history, culture and content,” said the Director General of the NCAC, Obi Asika.
Set to premiere in the first quarter of 2025, NGT Season 3 will feature auditions in 15 cities across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones. Beyond offering participants nationwide an opportunity to shine, NGT 3 will celebrate Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage via exhibitions, performances and collaborations featuring works of local creative artistes, alongside capacity building workshops and talent management sessions. It is an opportunity for state governments to display their unique arts, crafts, culture and tourism to optimal advantage.
Speaking of the event, Principal Consultant, Pure Imagination and Filmworks, Pedro Rotimi said, “With the global distribution power of Fremantle, including partnerships with YouTube and TikTok, NGT 3 promises to be the most exciting and culturally rich edition yet. We are weaving the vibrant tapestry of Nigeria’s diverse culture into the very fabric of this competition. The show will air on Netflix, NTA, AIT, Africa Magic, YouTube and TikTok.”
First held in 2014, NGT went on hiatus post its second season. The third season scheduled to launch production in January 2025, heralds the show’s return.
