NDA Warns Public Of Explosive Blasts During Cadets’ Exercise

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has warned members of the public, especially residents around its Afaka facility in Kaduna State, not to panic over possible explosive sounds as Short Service Cadets conduct an inter-company obstacle crossing competition on Saturday.

The Academy disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by its Public Relations Officer, Major Reuben Kovangiya, that the exercise is part of its routine training activities and will take place between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Kovangiya explained that the day and night exercise is designed to test the cadets’ ability to negotiate obstacles and respond effectively in combat situations.

He said the training will involve the use of explosive blasts, advising residents to remain calm and avoid panic during the exercise.

The NDA said the activity will be conducted within the Academy’s Afaka area and urged residents of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya and Afaka communities to take note of the exercise.

The Public Relations Officer assured residents that all necessary safety measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and incident-free exercise.

He also appealed for the cooperation of members of the public and the media in disseminating the information and supporting the successful conduct of the training.
