A youth support group of the Nigeria Democratic Congress Youth Agenda (NDC-YA) has organised a Children’s Day and Sallah celebration tour for children in Abuja as part of activities to promote child development and civic engagement.
The event, held on May 27, featured a courtesy visit to the NDC’s national headquarters, where about 32 children and accompanying youths were received by party leaders.
In a statement signed by the interim secretary-general of NDC-YA, Khalifa Baba Sulaiman, explained that the delegation was led by the founding patron of the group, Preye J. Ketebu-Brown.
The children were received by the NDC national deputy organising secretary, while the party’s national chairman, Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, engaged them in an interactive session focused on civic responsibility, education and family values.
The statement said the chairman expressed excitement over the visit, describing it as “a breath of fresh air” amid the party’s ongoing nationwide nomination activities.
“He remarked that the visit was an energiser and a blessing to the party secretariat, especially at this critical time,” the statement noted.
Cleopas also wished the visitor a happy Children’s Day celebration and extended Sallah greetings to their families. He later presented gifts to support the children’s celebration and commended the organisers for promoting child-focused activities within the party.
The children sang the national anthem and offered prayers for the party leadership, safer schools, Nigerian families and peace in the country.
The tour later moved to the National Children’s Park and Zoo, where the children interacted with and observed animals alongside other children from across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
