In a continued effort to disrupt the supply of illicit substances in Cross River State and across Nigeria, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Cross River State Command, has carried out a major raid on April 25, 2026 and destroyed 8 hectares of cannabis sativa farm that worth millions of naira.

The operation targeted an 8-hectare Cannabis Sativa farm located in Uyanga Community, Akamkpa local government area of Cross River.

The raid was conducted with critical support from soldiers of the 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army.

This collaboration between NDLEA and military personnel has become a recurring strategy for tackling large-scale drug cultivation in the state’s forested areas.

During the destruction of the farm, officers recovered 170kg of Cannabis Sativa that was already being processed for distribution.

The seizure represents a substantial interruption to the local drug supply chain.
This operation follows a similar exercise carried out earlier this month. On April 16, 2026, NDLEA operatives, also aided by the 13 Brigade, destroyed 6 hectares of Cannabis Sativa at Uwet Community, also in Akamkpa local government area.

The two operations, occurred within nine days of each other in the same LGA, signal sustained pressure on illegal cannabis farmers in Cross River State. Akamkpa has emerged as a focal point for NDLEA enforcement activities.
