NDLEA Seals Fuel Station For Keeping Indian Hemp

Niger State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has sealed a fuel station for allegedly bheing used as a store for Indian hemp.

State commander of the agency, Mr Musa Bwalin, told journalists  in Minna  that the security guard and  some staff of the filling station had been taken into custody for investigation.

Bwalin said the command had for over a year arrested 250 suspected drug dealers out of who 64 convictions were secured.

The state commander who spoke to mark the 2023 United Nations Day on war   against drug abuse and trafficking with the theme: ” People First. Stop stigmatization and discrimination strengthening prevention” also disclosed that the command recovered 2,218.02  kilograms of Indian hemp in the  state through various raids  on some identified black spots.

He urged residents to stop stigmatising drug addicts but bring them close to the society  for them to have a sense of belonging.

“Let me  admonish members of the society to desist from stigmatizing those that are into drugs. By stigmatizing them you are making them to be more addicted to it. Don’t look down on them, see them as part of the society. Bring them close to you. Give them words of advice,  talk to them to know the dangers of taking drugs. By so doing they will see reason and stay away from taking drugs,” he said.

He urged the Niger State governor to assist the state command  with operational vehicles to enable them tackle sale and consumption of illicit drugs.
