The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has honoured some members of staff of the agency who were either killed or once kidnapped by bandits recently.

Also honoured were some who suffered various degrees of injuries or suffered trauma in the course of performing their duties.

Presenting plaques to 10 staff members of the agency in Abuja yesterday, the director-general of NEMA, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, said the event was in appreciation of their service to humanity and for the sacrifices they made in the course of rescue and supports for other persons,

Ahmed advocated for reasonable emoluments, to include hazard allowance for staff of NEMA in view of the risk they faced in the discharge of their duties.
In a statement that was issued by the head, press unit of NEMA, Manzo Ezekiel, the DG admonished staff of the agency not to be dismayed, but to be committed and dedicated as their service to humanity cannot be in vain.
