Nestle Introduces Eco-friendly Packaging For Products

Nestlé Nigeria has introduced a new eco-friendly packaging for its cereal products, Golden Morn, in a bid to enhance sustainability and support local economic growth, noting that the new product relaunch will improve local content milestones in recycling.

The company also stressed the need to develop relevant food value chains by enhancing local content to deepen agricultural sustainability in the country by supporting smallholder farmers to make an ambitious impact in grain and soyabean production.

It revealed it has trained over 46,000 farmers in agribusiness to improve sustainability of local content drive in the agricultural sector.

The company, while addressing journalists at Nestle Head office in Lagos said despite the inflation surge and production distress, it is committed to navigate the food chain with sustainable cereal products that are 100 per cent locally sourced.

This was disclosed by Nestle’s Category manager, Dairy, Omofasa Orhiunu, at the ‘Relaunch of the King of Breakfast’ event held in Lagos on Monday.

He said this is not just a new look, It is a testament to our commitment to supporting Nigerian farmers and reducing environmental footprint.

He stated that the new packaging was designed to reflect Nestlé’s dedication to sourcing ingredients locally, ensuring freshness and quality while contributing to the Nigerian economy.

By investing in our local economy, we empower our farmers and contribute to sustainable growth, Odunlami explained.

Also speaking, Nestlé’s Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead, Victoria Uwadoka, stated that Nestlé was also focused on supporting farmers through various initiatives, providing technical assistance and seed funding to improve their livelihoods. Our approach emphasises developing value chains that increase farmers’ incomes and enhance their quality of life, she remarked.

She noted that Nestlé’s strategy was built around three pillars, which included individuals, communities, and the planet, intended to create shared value in the country.

Uwadoka added that the new recyclable packaging aligned with Nestlé’s global objectives are to minimise environmental impact and foster a circular economy.

“Nestlé collaborates with the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan-Atlantic University to empower young farmers through its agripreneur series. We are nurturing the next generation of innovative farmers,” she noted.

Reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting the nation’s economy, the firm’s commercial manager, Boladale Odunlami, stated, “As we unveil our new packaging, we reaffirm our commitment to nourishing Nigeria and supporting local communities.”
