Nestlé Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening sustainable food systems and improving nutrition outcomes in the country through deeper cross-sector collaboration.
This was the focus of discussions at the Nestlé for Good Summit 2026 held in Lagos, which brought together government officials, healthcare professionals, development partners, academia, industry leaders, civil society organisations, and the media.
The platform served as a convergence point for stakeholders to explore practical, scalable solutions to improve nutrition, strengthen communities, and promote sustainable livelihoods amid Nigeria’s evolving public health and food system challenges.
Key participants included the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, and the Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, as well as representatives from development agencies and the private sector.
Speaking at the summit, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Nigeria, Wassim Elhusseini, said the initiative reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to creating shared value through nutrition, community development, and environmental sustainability.
He explained that the “Nestlé for Good” platform is designed to connect the company’s various interventions in nutrition, thriving communities, and sustainable practices into a unified impact strategy.
According to him, the summit provides an avenue for stakeholders to jointly address challenges affecting food systems and nutrition outcomes across different segments of the population.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs Ambrose-Medebem, commended Nestlé Nigeria for convening stakeholders around issues she described as central to public health and economic development.
She noted that conversations around nutrition extend beyond food consumption to issues of productivity, human capital development, and long-term economic growth.
Also speaking, Nestlé Nigeria’s Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead, Victoria Uwadoka, said the platform demonstrates how the company’s operations, partnerships, and community investments are interconnected in driving real-world impact.
She added that Nestlé for Good is not only about showcasing initiatives but also about illustrating how different aspects of the business contribute to healthier communities.
Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability for Central and West Africa, Patricia Ekaba, stressed the importance of long-term collaboration and systems thinking in addressing nutrition challenges.
She noted that sustainable progress requires aligning business objectives with social outcomes to ensure lasting impact.
The summit ended with a renewed call for stronger partnerships among government, private-sector players, and development organisations to accelerate improvements in nutrition and strengthen livelihoods across Nigeria.
