If you like many other people have never heard of The Homeless World Cup, an international football competition that featureless homeless players whilst providing second chance for derailed soccer talents, you are in for an informative and entertaining ride with Netflix’s upcoming movie The Beautiful Game.

Starring Bill Nighy (Mal), Michael Ward (Vinny), the sports drama tells the story of Mal, the manager of England’s homeless soccer team, who leads them to the Homeless World Cup in Rome. He takes a gamble by adding talented but troubled striker Vinny, who must overcome his past to become a team player. Inspired by the real Homeless World Cup, this is a story of second chances, where homeless individuals from across the globe find hope and competition on the field.

Other members of the cast include: Valeria Golino (Gabriela), Sheyi Cole (Jason), Kit Young (Cal), Cristina Rodlo (Rosita), Robin Nazari (Aldar), Callum Scott Howells (Nathan) Aoi Okuyama (Mika).
International films that have highlighted the Homeless World Cup are the 2023 South Korean film Dream, it revolves around Yoon Hong-Dae, a football player, who receives disciplinary provision and is given the challenging job of coaching the national football team of homeless people in Korea for the Homeless World Cup. It stars Park Seo-joon and Lee Ji-eun (IU).

The game represents the potential of sports to build a better world.
Founded in 1999, The Homeless World Cup is an annual association football tournament organized by the Homeless World Cup Foundation, a social organization that advocates the end of homelessness through the sport of association, football. The organization puts together an annual football tournament where teams of homeless people from various countries compete.
