By Hamidat Yahaya, Abuja

A new fan club dedicated to Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has been established in Boston, United States (US) with a mandate to promote his music and global influence.

The group, known as Davido Supporters Group International (DSGI), was founded yesterday to support the artiste, his management, including Asa Asika, his record label, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) and the 30BG fan network.

Speaking to journalists, the founder, Ambassador Chukwudi “Chuck” Eke, said the initiative aims to promote Davido’s contributions to global music and Nigerian culture.

According to him, the group is not limited to the United States but operates as a global network with members across different countries, cities, and communities.

Eke, who is affiliated with the International Association of Peace Advocates, noted that Davido’s music and philanthropic activities promote unity and peace, particularly in Nigeria and across Africa.

He described the artist as a unifying figure whose work continues to connect people across ethnic and social divides both within Nigeria and in the diaspora.

Eke further explained that his admiration for Davido dates back to 2016, citing the singer’s resilience, entrepreneurial drive, and contributions to talent development in the music industry.

On the timing of the fan club’s launch, he said it aligns with ongoing efforts to support the artist’s projects, including his 2026 “5IVE Alive” tour and other upcoming performances.

He also disclosed plans to release a tribute book in honour of the singer, aimed at inspiring Nigerians to appreciate his impact.

In addition to his role in the fan club, Eke said he is working on a film titled Rainbow: Living Your Dream, which will premiere soon.

Eke, a graduate of Harvard University, currently serves as President of the U.S.-based DAST Foundation Inc., a nonprofit organisation focused on addressing drug abuse, substance use disorders, and human trafficking.
