New Provost To Reposition Bauchi Nursing College

The newly appointed provost of Aliko Dangote College of Nursing Sciences, Bauchi, Bappah Baba Waziri, has pledged to work with the state government and relevant stakeholders to transform the institution into a centre of excellence in nursing and midwifery education.

Waziri, who stated this in an interview with newsmen at the college yesterday, said his administration would prioritise academic excellence, staff development, practical training, modern learning facilities and improved infrastructure.

He said the initiatives were aimed at raising the standard of nursing education in Bauchi State and ensuring that the institution produced highly skilled, competent and disciplined nurses and midwives capable of meeting the healthcare needs of the state and beyond.

The provost stressed that quality healthcare delivery depended largely on the quality of professionals produced by training institutions, noting that effective nursing education remained critical to strengthening healthcare services.

Waziri said his decision to return to the Bauchi State Government was driven by his commitment to the development agenda of Governor Bala Mohammed, particularly in the areas of healthcare and human capital development.

He previously served as the provost of the College of Nursing Sciences at the Federal Medical Centre, Misau, before voluntarily returning to the state civil service to contribute his experience and expertise to the development of Bauchi State.

The provost expressed confidence that with the support of the state government and cooperation from stakeholders, the college would make significant progress and produce quality manpower for the healthcare sector.
