Next Cash & Carry Reopens In Abuja After Nearly Five Years

Next Cash & Carry, one of Abuja’s popular shopping destinations, has officially reopened its doors to the public nearly five years after it was shut down following a devastating fire incident.

The retail outlet, located along Ahmadu Bello Way in the Jahi/Kado area of Abuja, was forced to close after a major fire gutted parts of the facility in December 2021.

Its reopening has been welcomed by customers and residents who had come to associate the store with shopping, household supplies and other retail services.

The reopening also marks the return of a familiar commercial landmark to the Abuja retail scene after years of reconstruction and uncertainty over its future.

A visit to the facility following its reopening showed a significantly refreshed environment, with the premises given a new look as the business resumes operations.

Customers have already begun returning to the shopping centre, with the reopening generating excitement among residents who had missed having the retail outlet in the area.

The return of Next Cash & Carry is also expected to inject renewed commercial activity into the Jahi/Kado axis and provide another major shopping option for Abuja residents.

The December 2021 fire had brought operations at the facility to an abrupt halt, leaving employees, customers and business partners facing the impact of the closure.

Almost five years later, the reopening signals a new chapter for the retail brand and its customers.

For many Abuja residents, however, the significance of the reopening goes beyond shopping.

It represents the revival of a familiar part of the city’s commercial landscape, a place that had remained closed for years but has now come back to life.
