‎NGO Targets 1,000 Indigent Pupils For Study Materials Supply

‎A non-governmental organisation, Safe Tent Care Initiative, has launched a back-to-school outreach programme to distribute learning materials to 1,000 indigent pupils in Abia State.

‎At the first phase of the programme in Umuahia, the state capital, no fewer than 300 pupils from various primary schools in Abia Central zone benefitted.

‎In her address, the wife of the governor and founder of the initiative, Pricillia Otti assured that the target will be reached in subsequent phases of the programme.

‎She said the programme was driven by her passion to reduce financial pressure on parents and guardians to ensure that no child is denied access to education.

‎According to her, this is just the beginning of the programme. noting that the target is to sustain the programme until every child is reached.

‎‎”While the governor, Alex Otti, is working tirelessly to improve the quality of education, I want to make sure the children have the tools to learn.”

‎”Together, we want to raise a generation of children who will benefit from sound and quality education,” the first lady added.

‎She lauded the Ministry of Education, and the State Universal Basic Education Board for collaborating with the initiative to assist the parents and guardians.

‎Furthermore, she charged the beneficiaries to value the items, handle them responsibly, and see education as the foundation for their future.

‎The commissioner for Women Affairs, Maureen Aghukwa, appreciated her for “the intervention that aligns with the government’s vision for a better future for our children”.

‎Also, her counterparts for Poverty Alleviation, Ngozi Felix, and for Basic Education, Goodluck Ubochi, represented by Kenechukwu Nwosu, thanked her for the programme

‎The chairperson of the board, Lydia Onuoha, said the gesture was a huge relief for mothers and pledged continuous partnership with the initiative to make learning easier for pupils.
