A non-governmental organisation (NGO), The Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative Partners West Africa Nigeria (ROLEIPWAN), has trained 60 Kebbi State officers in Community Safety Partnership (CSP) Programme.
At the closing ceremony of the three-day Capacity Building Workshop on Community Safety Partnership Programme held in Birnin Kebbi, the programme officer of ROLEIPWAN, Abraham Ishayat, said the programme was sponsored by ROLEIPWAN and funded by UKAid.
It trained participants from three local government areas of Jega, Argungu and Birnin Kebbi on Community Safety Partnership.
According to him, the training is all about acquiring knowledge on mental health and psychological support, approaches to mental health support, identifying psychological needs and community support mechanisms, and successfully Integrating mental health and psychological support ( MHPSS) into CSP work as well as trauma or stress.
He added that the participants will come up with action plans for peace and security from the three participating local government areas, and how to evaluate an action plan for the next line of action.
Abraham urged participants to use what they learnt during the workshop to transmit it to the people of their communities and to highlight the need for the government to assist or fund the NGO to carry out its activities in the other local government areas of the state.
Twenty Officers were drawn from each of the three participating local government oversight areas, which include the police, NSCDC, EFCC, DSS, NDLEA, NAPTIP, CJTF, Task Force, Vigilantes, Army, NCS, and the media.
