Award-winning rapper Nicki Minaj has stirred fresh reactions online after meeting U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House during the launch of the new Trump Accounts initiative, where she described him as her “favourite President of all time.”
Welcoming the rapper to the event before guests, Trump showered Minaj with praise, describing her as a respected and talented entertainer.
“We also have a woman who is respected and so hot. She is such a great friend, a fantastic person, a woman that is respected by everybody, and she’s got real talent; we have Nicki Minaj,” Trump said.
The rapper later shared photos from the Oval Office on X, captioning one post: “Whoa!!!! #WhiteHouseBarbie with her favorite President of all time!!!
Minaj’s appearance at the White House also revived interest in a lyric from her 2009 song I Get Crazy, in which she rapped: “I be with the president up in the White House, if we in the Oval Office then it’s lights out.”
Reflecting on the moment, she wrote: “So crazy!!! No pun intended… And the next line literally said, ‘if we’re in the Oval Office, then it’s lights out’… and here we are in the Oval Office. Lol. Who knew? 17 years ago.”
The rapper’s self-styled nickname, “White House Barbie,” is a nod to her loyal fan base, the Barbz, known for embracing her signature colourful wigs, bold fashion and glamorous aesthetic.
According to reports, Minaj attended the event as Trump officially rang the opening bells of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ from the Oval Office to mark the rollout of the Trump Accounts programme.
Her appearance has generated widespread debate, given her evolving political stance. Once publicly critical of Trump, Minaj has increasingly been linked to the President and is now regarded as one of his most prominent celebrity supporters.
The meeting has since sparked mixed reactions across social media, with fans and critics weighing in on the rapper’s endorsement, Trump’s glowing remarks and her unexpected appearance at the White House.
