Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has reiterated the strategic significance of Nigerians in Cameroon who contribute immensely to the socio-economic fabric of both nations as they strive for greater unity and progress.
The NIDCOM Boss stated this during a visit by Mr. Ismail Adegbola, CEO/Publisher, Naija Diaspora Magazine in Abuja, who also presented her with an award for her dedication and commitment towards Diaspora Engagements, a statement issued by the Gabriel Odu of the Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of the Commission said.
Dabiri-Erewa announced that the Commission looks forward to engaging with Nigerians in Cameroon, adding that NIDCOM would be more intentional about engaging Nigerians in other African countries. She commended the publisher of the Naija Diaspora Magazine, Cameroun, for further advancing the interests of Nigerians in the Diaspora and strengthening ties between Nigeria and Cameroon.
She graciously acknowledged the esteemed recognition bestowed upon her as Mr. Ismail Adegbola presented her with the Woman of the Year Award 2023. This prestigious accolade, initially bestowed during the 10th-anniversary celebration in Douala, Cameroon, was formally presented at the NiDCOM Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.
The NiDCOM Boss expressed profound appreciation for the recognition, saying “I am deeply honored to receive this esteemed award. It is a testament to the courage and collective efforts of all those who tirelessly work towards enhancing Nigeria’s diaspora relations and fostering development across borders.”
Mr. Ismail Adegbola, a prominent figure in Diasporan affairs and publishing and a Nigerian resident in Cameroon, highlighted the importance of celebrating exemplary individuals like the Chairman/CEO, NiDCOM who embodies leadership and dedication in her endeavors.
He commended the NiDCOM Chairman’s proactive stance on amplifying the voices and concerns of Nigerians globally, stating,
“Mama Diaspora’s proactive dedication ensures our Diasporas’ voices are heard on the global stage.”
The award presentation, held under the distinguished support of His Excellency, Sadi Rene Emmanuel, Cameroon Minister of Communication, marks a pivotal moment in honoring the Chairman NiDCOM’s outstanding contributions to nation-building and diaspora engagement.
