The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has expressed deep sympathy with a Nigerian family following a tragic road accident in Texas, United States, which claimed the lives of a woman and her two children.
Chairman of the commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, conveyed the condolence message in a statement issued by the agency’s head of media, public relations and protocols unit.
The victims, identified as a US-based Nigerian woman, Nihinlolawa Agboro, and her two children, Temiloluwa and Isaac, were reportedly killed in the fatal crash which occurred on Sunday in Fort Bend County.
According to local media reports, the accident happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. along a highway between Harlem Road and Pitts Road. The incident involved a truck and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) conveying five occupants.
Authorities disclosed that the truck lost control, veered across the median, and crashed head-on into the oncoming SUV, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries.
Reacting to the development, Dabiri-Erewa described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the sudden loss of loved ones in such circumstances was devastating for any family.
“She expressed her deepest sympathy to the family, praying for the repose of the deceased and comfort for those left behind. She also wished a speedy recovery to anyone injured in the accident,” the statement said.
The NiDCOM boss further urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads to prevent avoidable tragedies. She added that the commission stands in solidarity with the Nigerian community in Texas and across the United States during this difficult time.
