A coalition of Niger State All Progressives Congress (APC) Youths has chided former Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu for saying the immediate past administration in the state was a wasted eight years.
Aliyu had described as wasted eight years the administration of Abubakar Sani Bello at the inauguration of an online television station in Minna.
In a reaction yesterday, the convener of coalition of APC Youths in the state reiterated that the former governor lacked moral right to describe the administration like that.
A statement by the convener of the coalition, Mohammed Umaru said, “As well-meaning members of Coalition of Niger State APC Youths, our attention has been drawn to the unwarranted utterances of chief servant and former governor of Niger State Muazu Babangida Aliyu who described the immediate past eight years of the APC in the state as a waste.
“While we understand that it is a decoy by the chief servant who has squandered his political goodwill in the state to get patronage from the present administration of Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, we consider the antic as unbefitting of statesmanship.”
The group further said, “We are quick to remind the chief servant on the whereabouts of ecological funds, Sure-P remittance for local government councils, the 7.5 percent contributory pension deduction for local government workers and teachers and many others.
“The same administration he referred to as a waste of eight years, cleared 7.5 percent deduction for state’s civil servants, made new pension laws to bridge the gap his administration created and has left pension burden on the immediate past government to resolve.”
The coalition stated further that the same administration former governor Aliyu referred to, as a waste “has constructed well over 100 intra-city roads, intervened in many federal roads to ameliorate the suffering of the people, embarked on whole school approach, constructed many blocks of primary schools, completed abandoned Jummai Babangida Maternal and Neonatal Hospital, reconstructed some primary health care facilities, constructed modern medical laboratory, renovated and equipped some general hospitals among others.”
