In a renewed partnership with Chinese investors, the Niger State government has initiated the process for the establishment of a world-class international trade zone at the Garam-Azhbisa Industrial Park in Tafa local government area of the state, .

A joint inspection team by representatives of the federal government, state government and a delegation of the Chinese investors was at the site yesterday to assess the 206-hectare Garam-Azhbisa Industrial Park earmarked for the project.

LEADERSHIP reports that the industrial park is the state government-owned industrial reserved area located in Garam Community, on the border with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, making it an attractive destination for industrial and commercial activities.

The state’s delegation was led by the director-general of the Niger State Industrial Park Agency (NSIPA), Hon. Mohammed Baba Kudu, who reaffirmed the state government’s readiness to allocate the facility to credible and committed investors.

Kudu noted that the initiative would stimulate infrastructure development, attract both local and foreign investments, create employment opportunities, and accelerate economic growth in the state.

The Consul General of Nigeria in Guangzhou, China, Ambassador Mairo Musa Abbas, who led the Chinese delegation alongside the representative of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Mallam Mahmud Mohammed, and the President of the Chinese-Africans International Trade Association, expressed satisfaction with the proposed site.

They described the location as strategically positioned for international trade and pledged to work towards establishing a modern trade zone equipped with world-class facilities that would rival leading commercial hubs, like the Lekki Free Trade Zone.

Ambassador Mairo requested copies of the feasibility study and master plan to facilitate the final documentation and investment processes upon the delegation’s return to China.

She assured the Niger State Government and the host community of the investors’ commitment to ensuring the successful delivery of the project and the establishment of a seamless, globally competitive trade zone.
