The Elders’ Forum of Katcha and Gbako Local Government Areas of Niger State has resolved to zone the House of Representatives seat for the Bida/Katcha/Gbako Federal Constituency to either Katcha or Gbako ahead of the 2027 elections, effectively ending the third-term bid of the incumbent member, Hon. Saidu Musa Abdul.
The chairman of the Katcha Concerned Stakeholders Forum, who is also the interface leader, Alhaji Abubakar Katcha, made this known in the resolutions reached at the end of the Gbako/Katcha stakeholders’ interface meeting in Minna.
He said they had agreed that the next member of the House of Representatives representing the Bida/Katcha/Gbako Federal Constituency should come from either Gbako or Katcha local government area.
Another member of the Elders’ Forum, Mohammed Dangana Kudogi, also supported the resolutions, stating that as a loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), there is a need for fairness, justice, equity, and inclusivity to ensure peace and stability.
The resolution by the elders is expected to end the tenure of Hon. Abdul, who is from Bida Local Government Area and has spent two terms in office.
The elders further observed that, in the interest of equity, Bida Local Government has held several political positions and occupied the seat for over 16 years, leaving other areas with less than two terms.
