Niger State governor, Umaru Bago, has sympathised with the government and people of Kogi State over the death of a veteran journalist, Alh Yakubu Mohammed.
In a condolence message, the governor said the demise of Alh Mohammed is a colossal loss not only to Kogi State but also to Nigeria in general.
He said the deceased has made numerous significant contributions to nation-building through his journalism profession that cannot be swept under the carpet.
The governor, who recalled how the late Alh. Mohammed co-founded the Newswatch magazine alongside key media figures like the late Dele Giwa, Ray Ekpu, and Dan Agbese, and his contributions to the creation of Kogi state. His impact on society cannot be swept under the carpet.
He also extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the national leadership, and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the loss.
The governor prayed that Allah would forgive all the shortcomings of the deceased and make Aljanna Firdausi his last abode, as well as comfort the family of the deceased and the government of Kogi State.
