Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has urged intending pilgrims from the state to pray for peace in the state and Nigeria.
Bago spoke to the first batch of intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 hajj at Bola Tinubu International Airport, Minna. He said they should also pray for their respective families.
The governor told the 345 intending pilgrims, comprising 227 males and 118 females drawn from Chanchaga and Borgu local government areas to be good ambassadors of the state throughout their pilgrimage.
He advised them against receiving any item from strangers to keep and to ensure they protect their belongings properly.
While admonishing them to take good care of their health, he enjoined them to always drink water to hydrate their bodies in view of the weather condition of the area.
He said they should observe all activities during the pilgrimage with devotion and therefore wished them a safe trip and successful Hajj.
Also, the 2026 Niger State Amirul Hajj and Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, described the hajj preparations as satisfactory. He enjoined the intending pilgrims to obey the laws of Saudi Arabia throughout their stay in the Holy Land.
LEADERSHIP reports that a total of 2,281 intending pilgrims will be performing the 2026 Hajj from Niger State , and they would be airlifted in six flights scheduled that would end next Sunday.
