Niger Records 40 Deaths From Flood

A new report on flood disaster in Niger State has shown that 40 deaths were recorded from flood this year.

The director-general of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Alhaji Ahmed Inga disclosed this at the flag off of the distribution of relief materials to all the victims of flood at Kuchiworo community in Lavun local government area of the state.

He said 21 out of the 25 local government areas of the state were affected by flood disaster with 382 communities devastated by flood.

Inga said 50,000 people were affected with 40 deaths recorded so far. He added that It is in line with the agency’s mandate of providing succour to victims of flood and other disaster related issues that Governor Abubakar Sani Bello approved the distribution of relief materials to all the affected areas across the state.

While commiserating with victims over the losses suffered as a result of flood this year , he assured them that the agency with the support from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) will not rest on their oars in providing palliatives to ease the hardship faced by victims of flood.
