In the wake of the country’s 63rd independence anniversary, Commonwealth Handball Association (CHA) wants Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to remain optimistic, patriotic and more resilient as Nigeria journeys into a prosperous destination for all.
The CHA’s secretary general, Saidu Jibril Ojih, gave the charge while congratulating Nigerians on the 63rd independence anniversary, admonishing all to have faith in the country’s democratic process and be the positive change agent right from the grassroots.
According to the veteran handball administrator, “We cannot fold our arms and expect miracles to happen.
“We must take the initiative to make ourselves and environment better every day as government alone cannot do it. We must model our life to be worthy of emulation; standards must be maintained all the time. This year’s independence anniversary should be a reminder that we can achieve greater things in unity as the foundations for success abound in the country.”
Jibril, a member of the Arbitration and Ethics Committee of the Confederation of Africa Handball, lauds sports men and women in the country in the face of current economic realities while congratulating Delta State for the successful hosting of the National Youth Games in Asaba, describing it as one of the pathways to Nigeria’s dominance in global sports fiesta.
