Nigeria has showcased its revolutionary leap in governance through Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the introduction of Service-Wise GPT at the Global Government Summit 2025 in Singapore.

The head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who made this known during her presentation at the Summit titled, “Model Behaviour: How to Govern with AI, Empowering Governance with AI: Nigeria’s National AI Journey and Service-wise GPT Insight,” highlighted Nigeria’s ambition to set new standards in public service transformation.

In a statement signed by the director of Information and Public Relations of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Eno Olotu, the head of Civil Service outlined the innovative draft National Artificial Intelligence Strategy developed by the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy.

Walson-Jack underscored AI’s potential to significantly enhance both the national and global economy while advocating for responsible, ethical, and inclusive governance to harness this technological advancement.

“Service-Wise GPT, currently in its Beta version, is a user-centric, AI-powered assistant created to transform public service delivery in Nigeria. It simplifies access to essential information such as Public Service Rules, Statutory Instruments, Regulations, and Guidelines crucial for Federal Civil Service operations.

“This innovative tool is designed with the end-users’ needs at the forefront, promising to revolutionize how civil servants engage with critical data,” she said.

She explained that once fully operational, the Service-Wise GPT would automate policy drafting and the creation of official memos, in addition to providing real-time policy research assistance.

The head of Civil Service emphasised the tool’s potential to save time and minimize the hours civil servants spend on administrative tasks, ultimately enhancing productivity, compliance, regulatory adherence, and decision-making speed across various ministries.

She explained the results of a 2025 research study in which respondents praised the Service-Wise GPT tool for enabling civil servants to work smarter, faster, and more inclusively while ensuring transparency and accountability.

She revealed that 73 per cent of users saved 2–3 hours daily, and the tool received a 90 per cent user recommendation rate for its efficiency and accessibility.

Walson-Jack positioned the Service-Wise GPT as a clear demonstration of the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to leveraging modern technology for the public good.

She reiterated the government’s dedication to fulfilling the Renewed Hope Agenda through a more efficient Federal Civil Service, marking Service-Wise GPT as a significant leap towards this goal.
