The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has officially released its highly anticipated 2026 Calendar of Events, setting the stage for a landmark season focused on bolstering domestic competitions, expanding grassroots development, and elevating Nigeria’s presence on the continental stage.

The 2026 calendar underscores the Federation’s renewed commitment to excellence, inclusivity, youth development, and international competitiveness across both indoor and beach volleyball disciplines.

A Season of Growth and Opportunity

The season kicked off in January with a nationwide registration drive for clubs and players, aiming to reinforce compliance, eligibility standards, and structured participation within the national framework.

According to Mr Godspower Odedede, Chairman of the Media Committee for the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, February and March will feature key national tournaments, including the Super Cup 2026, Presidential Cup Beach Volleyball, Nigeria Police Games, National Open/Star Tour, and Premier League Phase I. These competitions are designed to facilitate talent discovery, provide consistent competitive platforms, and ensure technical standardisation across various zones.

Strong International Engagement

The Federation’s 2026 roadmap also places a strong emphasis on continental and international participation. Nigerian clubs and national teams are scheduled to compete in:

CAVB Zone 3 Club Championship
African Clubs Championship (Men and Women)
Zone 3 Nations Cup
Africa Beach Continental U21 Championship
* Nations Cup (Men and Women)

These engagements are expected to enhance Nigeria’s ranking and visibility, whilst also exposing athletes and officials to elite competitive standards.

Beach Volleyball Expansion

Beach volleyball continues to receive strategic attention in 2026, with multiple national tours, youth championships, and continental qualifiers scheduled. The Federation remains dedicated to developing beach volleyball infrastructure and technical capacity nationwide.

The Nigeria Premier Volleyball League will run in two phases, providing clubs with sustained competitive action throughout the season. Additionally, the Federation will actively participate in the National Sports Festival, further promoting volleyball development at state and grassroots levels.

Commitment to Technical Excellence

To improve officiating standards, the Federation will host technical and referee development courses in collaboration with international bodies, ensuring Nigerian referees and officials remain globally competitive.

Looking Ahead

The 2026 calendar represents more than just a schedule of events; it is a strategic blueprint for sustained growth, institutional strengthening, youth inclusion, and international competitiveness. The Nigeria Volleyball Federation calls on corporate partners, state associations, stakeholders, and the wider sporting community to collaborate in delivering a successful 2026 volleyball season.
