Captain Ahmed Borodo’s journey from the world of telecommunications to the skies exemplifies a testament to passion, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit. The company under the leadership of Captain Borodo, has brokered several aircraft acquisition transactions in the last 2-3 years with the list still growing.
Born with a fervent love for aviation, Captain Borodo’s career trajectory took flight after a successful tenure in telecommunications, where he served as a Team Lead at MTN Nigeria. Despite his accomplishments in the telecom sector, Captain Borodo’s heart was always set on the skies, prompting him to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot.

Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Bayero University Kano, Captain Borodo embarked on his aviation journey with unwavering determination. He obtained his FAA Private Pilot License (PPL) in 2007 and further honed his skills with Commercial Multi-Engine Certifications from Flight Safety International in the United States.
“As I reflect on my journey from telecommunications to aviation, I’m reminded of the unwavering dedication and perseverance required to achieve one’s dreams,” shares Captain Borodo. “It’s a testament to the power of passion and resilience in navigating the challenges of the aviation industry and realizing one’s aspirations.”
Captain Borodo’s illustrious career as a pilot spans over 16 years, encompassing roles as an aircraft commander, administrator, and entrepreneur. From his early days as a First Officer with Virgin Nigeria Airways to commanding HS-125 aircraft for Camac International Limited and King Airlines Lagos, Captain Borodo’s professionalism and expertise have earned him accolades and respect within the industry.
In 2015, Captain Borodo realized his vision of establishing Flybird Aircraft Management Services Limited, a leading provider of aircraft management, sales and acquisition services in Africa. Under his leadership, Flybird has become synonymous with excellence, safety, and unparalleled service, boasting the largest aircraft management expert in Africa.
Beyond his entrepreneurial pursuits, Captain Borodo remains committed to advancing the aviation landscape in Nigeria. He is actively involved in initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring top-tier safety standards, and expanding corporate client bases. Additionally, Captain Borodo is spearheading the establishment of a scheduled domestic airline, Q-air, set to revolutionize the flying experience in Nigeria and the region.
