The Nigerian Society of Engineers mourned one of its great leader Engr Charles Aniweta Mbanefo, described him as an accomplished engineer.
Late Engr Charles Aniweta Mbanifo passed away on Oct 27, 2022, aged 81. On a professional side, Engr. Mbanefo was the founding Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers Abuja Branch. He served as the president of NSE between 1998 and 1999.
During his active years, Engr. Mbanefo supervised the construction of some major districts and monumental edifices in the Federal Capital Territory; and some of the projects in FCT that he participated in are: the Aso Villa, the National Assembly (design stage), the Supreme Court, the Federal Secretariat, the National Stadium, the National Mosque, the Transcorp Hilton, Maitama District, Garki II District, Jabi District (design stage), and many others.
Speaking at an evening tributes in honour of Late Engr Charles Aniweta Mbanefo, the president of NSE, Engr Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari -Wudil, said that the most endearing character traits that the late sage possessed were his humane disposition and uncommon humility. Adding that he was a father to all monitoring professionally, teaching wisdom, and yielding support to the weak.
He said, Engr Charles Aniweta Mbanefo was love by all for his strong benevolent spirit. He will be missed by all of us.”
Also paying his tribute, the president of the COREN, Engr Ali Rabiu, described the late Engr Charles Aniweta Mbanifo as a the as thoughtful, intellectual, bold and strong.
Rabiu said that Engr Mbanefo has contributed immensely to the development of his profession and community.
On his part, the chairman of NSE Abuja Branch, Engr Benjamin Okoh, said that Engr Mbanefo was a definition of virtue, an exceptional individual, infectiously witty and at the same time, profoundly caring. Adding that he speaks for the voiceless.
He said, Engr Charles Aniweta Mbanefo shared Aristotelian view that “If a man is interested in himself only, he is very small, he is interested in his family, he is large, if he is interested in his community, he is large.”
