Nigerian taekwondo prodigy Solomon Alegu has made a remarkable start at the World Junior Taekwondo Championship in Uzbekistan, securing a hard-fought victory in his Round of 64 fight against Yeun Awenm of the Netherlands.

The 17-year-old rookie, competing in the -59kg category, demonstrated exceptional skill and composure to win the bout by two rounds to one.

Alegu, a rising star in Nigerian taekwondo, captivated spectators with his dynamic performance. He dominated the first round, securing a commanding 10-2 lead.

The second round proved to be a tighter affair, ending in a 5-5 draw, a testament to the resilience of his Dutch opponent. However, Alegu showcased his determination in the decisive third round, despite a 2-6 scoreline, ultimately clinching the overall victory.

This impressive win marks a significant milestone for Alegu and for Nigerian taekwondo on the international stage.
