Nigerians have been urged to shun tribalism and vote for credible candidates who have the passion for a progressive and united country at every election in the country.

Chairman, forum of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) state chairmen, Dr Tosin Odeyemi who gave the admonition while playing host to members of Southwest Yoruba Youths Vanguard at the NNPP Secretariat in Osogbo, recommended Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso for the job of the nation’s president in 2027.

He noted that Kwankwaso has been tested with power at all levels; federal and state, adding that people can testify to it that he is a born-leader who could make things happen in Nigeria.

Odeyemi noted that Nigerians, especially Yorubas, have tried their own and realised that instead of relief, hardship is the order of the day.

He stressed that the situation being faced by Nigerians now shows that the present crop of leaders in the country are selfish and lack the fear of God.

“We warned Nigerians in 2022 not to allow sentiments becloud their reasoning in choosing who should lead us, but what we were hearing around was, it’s our son that should do it.

“Now our son has been tested and we all know what Nigerians are going through presently; we witness everyday a worsening economic hardship that is creating more poverty.

“The sudden removal of fuel subsidy without any provision on ground to cushion its effects coupled with increment in electricity tariff and devaluation of the Naira have cast a shadow over the economic stability of Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, small and medium scale enterprises are folding up on a daily basis and nothing is being done to salvage the ugly situation.
