A pro-APC group led by Prof Damian Opata has stressed the need for Nigerians to acknowledge that the reforms of the President Bola Tinubu administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy, were already yielding positive results.
Opata urged Nigerians to be honest enough to acknowledge measurable improvements in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He appealed to Nigerians to unite in sustaining the progress of the Tinubu’s reforms.
Opata, who is the interim national chairman of the South East Movement for Tinubu 2027, made the call at the weekend during a leadership meeting of the support group held in Enugu, which had in attendance members of its Board of Trustees, founding members and state coordinators from across the South East.
The group reaffirmed its support for the re-election of President Tinubu for a second term in office.
In a communique signed by leaders of the group including zonal Chairmen in the Southeast and read after the meeting by Opata, the group expressed appreciation to Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, for his support toward the successful inauguration of the Movement.
Opata reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to President Tinubu and urged the opposition to adopt what it described as constructive and honest criticism of government policies.
“We heartily thank Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, for the immense support he gave the Movement. We do not take your support for granted.
“The opposition should be honest enough to acknowledge measurable improvements in economic indicators, including the easing of inflation and reduction in the cost of some commodities,” the statement noted.
Opata condemned what it termed partisan foreign commentary on Nigeria’s internal security challenges, calling for respect of Nigeria’s sovereignty and national dignity.
“Finally, we call on all Nigerians to rally support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“His administration holds great promise for Nigeria and Nigerians.
“We urge the government to continue prioritising citizens’ welfare and national security,” they stated.
