Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, has said that the creative sector was projected to create 500,000 new jobs by 2030.

She explained that the ministry was formed from the merger of two previous ministries in October 2023, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s strategy to reduce costs and enhance synergy.

Ms. Musawa stated this on Friday at the eighth edition of the Ministerial Press Briefing Session organised by the Federal of Ministry of Information and National Orientation, held at the National Press Centre in Abuja.

“In the music sector, we’ve identified five segments in the value chain, including production, marketing, and sales. Our draft report shows we’ll generate over 500,000 new jobs by 2030, especially through self-employment and micro-enterprises in hubs like Edo, Delta, Plateau, and Lagos,” she said.

Musawa said the figures represented real opportunities for Nigerian youth, women, and rural communities. She disclosed that the ministry has already secured $200 million in investment commitments and established the Creative Economy Development Fund.

She described the sector as a vital part of Nigeria’s economic diversification plan, “transforming what was once seen as cultural expression into engines of sustainable growth and job creation.”

“Our strategic partnerships and programmes will generate over 2 million jobs and elevate Nigeria’s global cultural standing,” she added.
