Former presidential candidate Kingsley Moghalu has said democracy is fundamentally challenged in Nigeria because of a failure to enforce rule of law.
Reacting to events in the country on the back of the recent general elections, he said other climes there are consequences for breaking laws.
Reacting through his twitter handle, Moghalu said, “People in America or England or Japan do not obey laws, & so have truly functioning democracies, because they are better human beings than Nigerians.
“They do, and democracy works in those places, because the laws are ENFORCED impartially, & there are consequences for breaking it.
“Democracy is fundamentally challenged in Nigeria because we have not arrived at the basic reality of an enforced rule of law,” he said.
