Ahead of the general elections slated for February/March, communities situated at Nigeria’s borders have been told to be vigilant and guard against the infiltration of foreigners into the country.

The comptroller-general, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Mr Isah Jere Idris gave the charge yesterday, when he visited some border communities in Ogun State.

Jere, according to a statement issued by the NIS spokesman, Mr Tony Akuneme, interacted with stakeholders on the need for vigilance and security consciousness as the country approaches the general election

The NIS at the groundbreaking of the proposed Abeokuta Passport Office explained that the project was timely, stressing that it would enhance passport processing and production for the benefit of the people of Ogun state.

While pledging his commitment to better service delivery to Nigerians, he commended the government and people of the state for their unflinching support to the Service and enjoined them to always stand for the progress of the nation.
