The leadership of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has in a massive house-cleaning exercise geared towards ridding the service of bad eggs dismissed four of its personnel and demoted 14 others for various offences.
This information was confirmed by the service national spokesman, DCI Tony Akuneme. He pointed out that four other personnel who were accused were discharged and acquitted of the allegations, while one offender was compulsorily retired from the service.
In the statement, the CG, Isah Jere Idris assured Nigerians of optimal service delivery hence the move.
According to the statement, four officers were dismissed, 14 demoted, 11 issued warnings, four others discharged and acquitted while another eleven are awaiting trial.
It warns that there will be no sacred cow in the service as offenders will be sanctioned appropriately.
The statement also urged the public to be vigilant and support the service to deliver more on its mandate by contacting the service for feedback, inquiries and complaints on any of their channels.
