Leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been moved from the Department of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja to the Correctional Centre in Sokoto.
The disclosure by his former Attorney, Aloy Ejimakor, via X yesterday. He wrote, “Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto; so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones and well-wishers.”
Our correspondent reported heavy security at the Sokoto Correctional Centre following the speculation that Kanu was brought there.
A truckload of armed military personnel was sighted, and though, no official confirmation came from the Correctional Centre that Kanu was brought there, activities around the area suggested an unusual development indicating that a high profile convict must have been brought to the facility.
Kanu was on Thursday convicted on a seven-count charge of terrorism by Justice James Omotosho.
The leader of the outlawed separatist group was sentenced to life in prison on five counts, a 20-year term for one count, and a five-year sentence for another, all to run concurrently.
