Barau Football Club have arrived in Asaba, Delta State, ahead of the Nigeria National League (NNL) promotion playoffs. The Maliya Boys landed in Asaba yesterday, harbouring high hopes of securing a place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/26 season.
The travelling party includes 32 players, along with 15 officials and the coaching staff. The NNL has announced that the Super Eight tournament will take place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba from July 5 to 12, 2025.
Eight teams have qualified for the tournament, including Warri Wolves, Osun United, Crown FC, and Kun Khalifa FC of Owerri. Also competing are Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, Yobe Desert Stars, Doma United of Gombe, and Barau FC of Kano State.
The competition will determine the four teams that will gain promotion to the NPFL for the 2025/26 season and will also establish the overall winner of the 2024/25 NNL season.
