The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has confirmed a fuel supply disruption affecting parts of Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The shortage is attributed to technical issues with the discharge operations of several vessels.

NNPC’s chief corporate communications officer, Olufemi Soneye, stated that the company is collaborating with stakeholders to resolve the issue and restore normal operations.

NNPC  urged motorists and residents to remain calm as they work to mitigate the impact of the fuel scarcity.

LEADERSHIP checks reveal that fuel queues resurfaced in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and neighbouring states such as Nasarawa and Niger States, as well as some parts of Lagos.

Few filling stations who were selling have adjusted their metres selling between N800 and N900 per litre under strict security arrangement to forestall any breakdown in law and order.

However, the NNPC in a statement said: “The NNPC Ltd wishes to state that the tightness in fuel supply and distribution witnessed in some parts of Lagos and the FCT is as a result of a hitch in the discharge operations of a couple of vessels.”

The company added that it is working round the clock with all stakeholders to resolve the situation and restore normalcy in the operations.
