NNPC Retail Limited has taken disciplinary action against staff members involved in a viral incident of misconduct at one of its filling stations in Ikorodu, Lagos State, where a pump attendant was caught attempting to defraud a customer.
The company, in a press release issued on Thursday, confirmed that it had traced the incident to a specific retail outlet in Ikorodu following a viral video social media earlier this week.
The footage, which sparked public outrage, showed the attendant allegedly shortchanging a customer during a fuel purchase.
“Such behaviour is unacceptable and does not reflect the company’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and exceptional customer service,” the statement read.
In line with its sanction grid, NNPC Retail announced that the pump attendant involved has been disengaged from service.
It further said that the station manager has been suspended, adding that a formal warning letter has been issued to the dealer overseeing the station.
The company further used the opportunity to reaffirm its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct and urged customers to continue reporting any irregularities experienced at its service stations.
“We thank the public for their vigilance and encourage the reporting of any incidents through the appropriate customer service channels displayed at all stations,” the statement added.
NNPC Retail emphasised that it remained committed to upholding high standards of professionalism and customer satisfaction across its nationwide network of outlets.
