NNPP Warns Anti-party Won’t Be Tolerated Anymore

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) national chairman, Dr. Ajuri Ahmed, has declared that the party will no longer tolerate members engaging in anti-party activities, warning that disciplinary measures will be enforced against erring members.

Ahmed made the statement during the party’s annual verification exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the NNPP national headquarters in Abuja.

“This is a democratic party. However, we shall not tolerate members who engage in anti-party activities with impunity,” he said.
He added, “No matter how highly placed, all members are expected to remain disciplined and operate within the ambit of our constitution. The internal mechanisms of our party shall be guarded jealously.”
Ahmed emphasised the NNPP’s role as the ruling party in Kano State and its mission to serve as a constructive opposition in other parts of the country.

He assured party members of strict adherence to the party’s constitution and declared that a comprehensive constitutional status document would be made available to all members through the Legal and Publicity directorates.

Addressing recent controversies, Ahmed criticised a group of former party members who it expelled for allegedly working with rival parties to destabilise the NNPP.

“These individuals have made themselves tools in the hands of another party, spreading falsehoods and propaganda,” he said.

Ahmed added, “They claim the management of the party has been handed over to them. Well, today’s INEC exercise reaffirms that we have been, we are, and by God’s grace, shall continue to be the New Nigeria People’s Party.”

The INEC verification exercise is an annual procedure conducted to assess registered political parties in Nigeria. While routine, this year’s verification gained attention due to claims by expelled members regarding the party’s leadership.

Ahmed lauded INEC for fulfilling its statutory duty, which he said underscores the NNPP’s legitimate leadership and stability.

“We remain focused on our vision for a New Nigeria, and we will not allow distractions from disgruntled individuals,” he said.
