A frontline aspirant for the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 8 Anambra governorship election, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has warned those tarnishing his integrity to stop wasting their energy, stating that no amount of blackmail would stop his ambition to win the governorship election.
Speaking yesterday at the commissioning of the state secretariat of the party in Awka by the APC national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Chukwuma expressed satisfaction that his long years of efforts and resources in rebuilding the party in the state has eventually yielded the desired result.
He said this fact was evident in the number of political heavyweights in the state that have joined the party, including those aspiring for the party’s ticket to contest the coming state’s governorship election.
State chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike earlier eulogised Chukwuma as the greatest pillar of the party in the state, stressing that he donated N100 million to the party and rented the party’s state secretariat, some local governments and ward offices of the party.
He also told the visiting national leadership of the party and other supporters that other aspirants of the party’s governorship ticket, including Professor Obiora Okonkwo, Prince C. N. Ukachukwu, High Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo, Chief Chukwuma Umeoji have also supported the party in some significant ways.
Earlier in his speech, the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the United Nigerian Airlines (UNA), Okonkwo said he had won both state and National Assembly elections in 2011 and boasted that if the party’s governorship ticket is given to him, he would guarantee victory for the party.
“I have the capacity to sack the APGA and Professor Chukwuma Soludo from the Government House, Awka in the governorship election,” he vowed.
Prince Ukachukwu, Onunkwo, Umeoji in their separate speeches hailed the Ganduje-led APC national leadership, assuring that they have the capacity to win the governorship election for the party as well as the capacity to commit resources to mobilise support for the party at the grassroots ahead of the polls.
