The National Deputy Chairman, South-East of the Labour Party (LP), Hon.Ceekay Igara has dismissed the sack of Barrister Casmir Agbo as the Chairman of the party in Enugu State.

Speaking to journalists shortly after their one-day stakeholders’ meeting at LP state secretariat in Enugu, Igara said the clarification became necessary following claims by some members of the party in the state that the Agbo-led executive has ceased to exist.

Igara described the alleged emergence of a new state executive as false and unfounded, insisting that there is no crisis in Enugu State Chapter of the party.

“What I am doing is to talk to our officers, because there are some people going around saying they are Labour Party leaders. We have decided as a party to let every Nigerian know that there are no divisions in Labour Party. The party has Dr. Julius Abure as the National Chairman. And if you come to Enugu state, Dr. Casmir Agbo is the state chairman.

“We have not constituted a new leadership of the Labour Party in Enugu, apart from this one being led by Casmir Agbo. And so, anybody who tells me that another executive exists in Enugu is a confusionist.

“I was told during a radio interview that there are pockets of people who are claiming to be members of the executive in Enugu, and I said let me see them. Let me know where they are coming from. I attended this meeting because it is properly constituted. They don’t have any national officer there. No national officer will show face there because they are illegal an illegal body. I am not saying they are not members of the party; all I am saying is that they are not members of the executive we constituted in Enugu,” Igara said.

He advised prospective members of the party in Enugu State to approach the Casmir Agbo-led executive for registration.

He further accused some public office holders elected on the platform of the party in 2023, of not contributing to the growth and development of the party across the states.

Earlier in his speech, Agbo assured that he would serve the party diligently and transparently, urging party faithful to ensure obedience to the provisions of the party’s constitution.
