Nigeria Police Force says there is no plan to unleash mayhem or force in the FCT as being insinuated in some sections of the social media.

Reacting to accusations made by one Harry on X, formally Twitter, via his handle, “@chiditweets042” that the commissioner of police was planning to unleash mayhem in the territory, the police said there was no truth in the accusation and the equipment displayed on the social media was anti-protest material.

FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement, said:  “The command wishes to debunk the allegation, labelling it as false, mischievous, and misleading. It is important to note that the commissioner of police’s primary assignment is to protect lives and property, and he has been doing so in line with the extant laws.”

The commissioner, Benneth Igweh, while reaffirming the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all, urged residents to disregard the information and go about their lawful businesses without fear, noting that the intention of the peddler of the publication is to mislead and cause apprehension in the populace.
