No Transmission Fault to Jos, TCN Insists, Faults Kaduna Electric’s Claims

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has dismissed as false a statement by Kaduna Electric alleging transmission constraints affecting power supply to Jos and its environs, describing the claim as a deliberate misrepresentation of facts.

TCN management on Thursday,  said all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos remain in service and are transmitting bulk power, contrary to the disc claims made by the electricity distribution company in a statement dated August 26.

According to TCN, the only incident recorded on its network was on August 23, 2026, at 3:30am, when the circuit breaker on the Jos–Lafia 330kV Line 2 was opened for voltage control as a routine operational measure to maintain grid stability. The line, it said, was successfully restored and back in service by 11:59am the following day, August 24.

“There has been no outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos attributable to TCN since that restoration,” the company stated.

TCN urged Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify facts with the company before issuing public statements, warning that such claims could misinform the public and create unnecessary anxiety among electricity consumers.

The transmission company also appealed to electricity customers in Jos and environs to disregard the alleged misleading information, assuring that it remains committed to transparency and the efficient transmission of bulk electricity to distribution companies nationwide.

“TCN will continue to work with all Distribution Companies to ensure stable and reliable power delivery,” the statement added.
