NOA Alerts Jigawa Residents Of Flooding

National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Jigawa State has warned residents, particularly those in low-lying and riverine communities, to take urgent precautions following weather forecasts predicting heavy rainfall and potential flooding in the coming days.

The state director of NOA, Mr Ahmad Ibrahim, issued the warning in a press statement released through the head of Media and Communications Miss Sarah Ogodo and made available to journalists in Dutse.

According to the statement, a multiple meteorological reports from relevant government agencies indicate a high likelihood of intense downpours, which could trigger flooding in vulnerable area around 17 local government areas of the state..

“We are urging all residents, especially those near riverbanks and flood-prone zones, to remain vigilant and adhere to safety directives from authorities to minimize disaster risks,” Ibrahim stated.

The director reiterated their commitment to public safety, noting that, the agency is employing a multi-channel approach including media engagements, community outreach, and partnerships with traditional and religious leaders to ensure flood alerts reach every household.
