The Yourba Nollywood industry has been thrown into mourning following the passing of veteran actor and pastor Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado.

According to reports, the respected actor passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, after a brief illness. He leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances and dedicated service to both the entertainment industry and his Christian ministry.

Adeshina built a dedicated career in the indigenous Yoruba film sector, spanning over two decades of consistent screen appearances. He was widely recognized for portraying traditional titleholders, community elders, and cultural figures, earning a reputation for delivering authentic dialogue and a distinct dramatic presence. His stage name, “Elegbeje Ado,” stems from one of his most popular and definitive movie roles, which cemented his status among fans of classic Yoruba cinema. Alongside his commitments to the screen, he was a devout Christian minister who balanced his creative craft with his pastoral duties.
