Nollywood Mourns As Veteran Actor Patrick ‘Energy’ Okoye Dies

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Okoye, popularly known as “Energy.”

Reports of the actor’s passing surfaced on social media on Thursday, with colleagues, fans and well-wishers expressing shock and sadness over the loss.

According to reports, Okoye died in the early hours of Thursday, May 28, 2026. The news was also confirmed in a post shared on his official Instagram page.

“Rest in peace, legend,” the post read.

Beyond his contributions to the Nigerian movie industry, Okoye was reportedly a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where he reportedly impacted the lives of numerous students through his academic work.
