Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has revealed what inspired his weight-loss journey, saying a friend’s comment made him rethink his lifestyle and health choices.

The rapper said his new look is completely natural. He pushed back against rumours that linked it to drug use.

He explained that the change began while he was working on a new album with Chopstix.

During the sessions, the producer suggested they go for a “fresh look”. That idea stuck with him.

“It was just a statement from my friend, Chopstix, who is also a producer. We were working on an album when he said, ‘Ice, let’s do this album with a new look, let’s cut the belly out,’ and it made sense to me,” he said.

He said Chopstix later joined the routine, often coming over to his house for evening walks.

“He started coming to my house every day at 8pm, and we would take walks together. That was it,” the rapper stated

Ice Prince also took the opportunity to dismiss rumours that his slimmer appearance was due to drug use.

“I promise on everything that I love and care about, I have never had an interest in any drugs or any substance. I have never engaged in it. I used to be a smoker, yes, but that was the height of it. I have never tried drugs in my life. My weight loss was natural,” he said.

The rapper spoke about his upcoming album, Testimony of Grace, saying it reflects his life, journey, and gratitude after many years in the music industry. He explained that the project shares his thoughts and experiences from more than a decade in the spotlight, following the success of his 2010 hit Oleku.

“Testimony of Grace is just a collection of my thoughts. Music is an expression of self, and this is me expressing myself in the best way I can.”

“I feel I have lived a gracious life. God has blessed me in so many ways I can’t even explain. I came into the game with Oleku in 2010, so it’s been about 16 years of being active in music, and God has been gracious all the way,” Ice Prince concluded.
